Discussing the importance of women in the built environment and how to promote equality in our industry...
The second Colander Conversation, hosted at Arup, took place with an invited group of senior women working across the built environment and asked the question: “Are women important in the Built Environment?”
The group comprised an eclectic mix of architects, landscape architects, engineers, surveyors, academics, journalists, advisors, clients and contractors all of whom are highly respected and influential in their chosen professions.
As a result of this first meeting, the Equilibrium Network was created. The aims of the network are twofold:
- Addressing the attrition rates of women professional within construction professionals.
- Promoting diversity around the Board Room table.
To achieve its aims, Equilibrium engages in four different ways:
- Research
- Strategy
- Intervention
- Influence
