Writing a business plan

We have been pleasantly surprised by the resilience of this half-day course which, over the years, has proved to be immensely popular with young firms of architects starting out in business, as well as more established practices that are looking to make a step change in the way they approach the future.

Who this course is for

This is a half day course that combines training with consultancy advice so, we often find ourselves working with a small select team of business leaders.

This course has been designed for architects who are setting up in business and are looking for guidance on writing a business plan. It is also for architects who want to manage the growth of their practices and plan for future developments.

Please note that we also provide a business development consultancy service which may be more appropriate than a formal training session, for some practices.

Course format

The course is devoid of management jargon and provides a practical step-by-step guide to business planning that simply starts by creating a vision of the future and then establishes a plan for achieving that vision. We take delegates through a step-by-step guide to business planning: understanding where the business is today, building consensus for future aims and how to write a plan.

In keeping with the Colander philosophy, it is intensely practical, using an interactive workshop style, supported by comprehensive course notes.
