This November, we're offering our two-day Architects as Project Leaders course as a public programme for the first time.
Over recent months, we have heard from a number of smaller practices and organisations interested in our Architects as Project Leaders course, but with only one or two people requiring training. As the course is usually delivered in-house to practice teams, it has not always been practical for them to take part.
In response, we are running the course as a public programme for the first time this November. This will allow individuals and smaller groups to access Colander’s most popular face-to-face course without needing to commission an in-house programme.
The training is led by Ed Rhodes, who brings a wealth of experience from many years of working in practice. His knowledge is woven into the course through a combination of presentations, interactive tasks and group discussion. Delegates will also have time to explore the real-life challenges they are facing on their own projects.
Who is this course for?
It is primarily aimed at architects and designers who are beginning to work on the front line as project leaders: leading the design process, managing internal and external teams, balancing the client’s brief with project budgets and resources, all through the various work stages.
It is also appropriate for:
- Assistant architects or recently graduated Part III architects, who will find themselves leading projects in the future, and who want to more fully understand what the role entails.
- Senior architects or team leaders who want to understand how they can best support their Project Architects' understanding of this key role.
Course dates and format
The course takes place over two full days, from 9.30 to 17.00:
- Day one: Wednesday 4 November 2026
- Day two: Wednesday 25 November 2026
The three-week gap gives delegates an opportunity to put what they have learnt during the first day into practice, before returning to reflect on their experience and build on their learning during day two.
Delegate numbers are limited to 12 to maintain the quality and interactive nature of the training.

The venue is a few minutes’ walk from Russell Square Underground station and approximately ten minutes from Tottenham Court Road and Holborn stations.
