We are looking for a team with exceptional creativity and leadership skills to design a new market for Birmingham: 'City of a Thousand Trades'....
On behalf of Lendlease, working in collaboration with Birmingham City Council, we are delighted to announce a competition to find a design-led team for the new Market that is at the heart of the ambitious Birmingham Smithfield development - one of the largest and most exciting city centre regeneration opportunities in Europe.
Creativity and design leadership will determine the winner - so much so, that our client has decided to turn the industry norm of management-led procurement on its head: this competition starts with design leadership; management capabilities will follow.
The competition is looking to find people who can act as design leaders for the project; who really understand Lendlease’s desire for excellence; who have exceptional creativity; who can ignite a passion for design in others; who can communicate the value of good design and who can act as the catalyst for design ingenuity: essentially, people to take the creative lead on this special but complex project.
We are encouraging interest from international and UK based designers, whether they are operating in large organisations, small, newly formed ventures, or coming together as a collaborative team for this project.
Amanda Levete of AL_A will be joining the Jury Panel as the external architectural advisor.
The deadline for Stage 1 submissions is 08 July 2019.
