The NLA has launched a summer report and an exhibition to explore creative reuse in London....
The report is entitled Adaptive London: Reusing Existing Buildings. It is the NLA's latest bit of research and aims to position London as a global frontrunner in adaptive reuse.
It is both direct and challenging, identifying five drivers for success:
- Collaboration
- Early engagement
- Nuanced decision-making
- Innovation and data
- Place-based thinking
It is iIllustrated by an impressive array of case studies, alongside thought-provoking essays that consider the policy frameworks, planning innovations, and industry-wide collaborations that enable London to lead in this critical area. It builds a case for what needs to change to enable a retro-first approach to become a valuable and attractive proposition for future investment in cities, like London.
As ever with the NLA, the report is paired with a public exhibition at The London Centre that showcases the case studies, as well as a series of talks around this important topic.
To find out more do attend the talks, visit the exhibition and - most importantly - download the report!
