Effective communications

Success depends on consistent communication, whether that be in meetings, emails, WhatsApp messages, reports, social media, or formal and informal conversations.  With so many methods available, choosing the most appropriate one for the  audience is essential.

Who this course is for

This course is designed for delegates from the same organisation.

It is for anyone for whom good communications are a fundamental tool - aiding the smooth running of both a practice and a project.  It will help individuals develop and hone their own self-awareness, alongside their communication and influencing skills, to build and strengthen relationships across a team.

We recommend that the number of delegates is limited to between eight and 12. This is so that we can engage with everyone and pick up questions.

Format

Beth Stallwood runs this course for us.  Beth has a reputation for being an inspiring trainer with an energetic and uplifting style, balancing support and challenge in equal measure and enabling people to empower themselves to achieve their goals.

This is a highly interactive, 90-minute, online course that combines theory with practical applications.  It is designed to ensure delegates get the best from the online format while avoiding screen-fatigue.

We like using Zoom but we are happy to use other platforms if preferred by our clients.

This course is also available as a half-day in-person session, in which group activities, case studies and discussions are added to the online content to ensure full participation and relevance to real life.

Course content

This course explores how personal communication styles, strengths and preferences influence the way information is given and received.

It will provide practical tools to help delegates read situations and people, and then adapt and communicate with clarity and influence, bearing in mind the different personalities involved in designing and delivering projects.

Topics addressed in this course include:

  • Different types of communication commonly used on projects and in the office.
  • How to address the challenges that occur when communication hasn’t landed.
  • How different personal styles, strengths and preferences impact how communications are given and received.
  • How to identify individual communication preferences, and consider how these may be adapted to help communications in project meetings, and when delivering presentations.
  • Suggested homework.

Associated courses

This is one of three courses under the topic of 'Communication'.

Each has been designed to stand alone but they also work well in sequence when combined, particularly for practices that are looking for a rounded training package, encompassing the wider issues of good leadership and communication.
